Before you get the wrong idea: I'm not a Biblical scholar, pastor, or any kind of theologian—which will quickly become obvious if you read this blog. But I’ve been a Christian my whole life—even though I’ve kept that part of myself mostly in stealth mode.

I’ve always been hesitant to share and talk about my faith publicly. “Religion” is a loaded word these days, and unfortunately, Christianity often gets misinterpreted, misused, and misunderstood. And even worse—politicized.

I was hyper-aware of all the labels I didn’t want—“Jesus freak,” “Bible beater,” etc. So I firewalled that part of myself off from the rest of my life: work, dating, social life, Instagram… you get the idea.

Looking back, perhaps I thought that I was protecting something sacred—like faith couldn’t survive out in the wild alongside my sometimes messy life. Like being a “real” Christian meant being buttoned-up and reverent all the time. And while I take my faith in God very seriously, I’m often a deeply unserious person—the kind who laughs at exactly the wrong moment and says things like “just kidding” and “hey, I’m just being honest” a little too often.

Maybe it’s age, but somewhere along the way, I’ve stopped worrying about how talking about my faith will land. Because let’s be honest—no one is lying awake at night dissecting why Cat loves Jesus. Everyone’s got their own insecurities to spiral over. And if I’m only living out my faith in private, I’ve definitely missed the point.

Divinely Reconnected

Over the past couple of years, I’ve been reconnecting with my faith in a big way—and having a really good time doing it.

If you’re one of the two people on the planet who hasn’t heard me bang on about how I read the entire Bible last year, buckle up—because I’m nowhere near done talking about it.

Don’t worry, I’m not here to be preachy or convert anyone (though if that happens, bonus points). Whether you’re a Christian, follow another faith, are spiritually curious, or don’t believe in anything—I’m glad you’re here. There’s room for everyone… as long as we follow the golden rule.

So here I am—getting my God on

The stories in the Bible light me up, so I’m excited to share my take on them—along with dispatches from my walk with Jesus (which is less of a leisurely stroll and more of a precarious hike with untied shoelaces). The scenery can be beautiful, but the journey can get messy. We screw up. We get lost. We fall down. We carry a heavy backpack of bespoke problems. We wrestle with doubt. We don’t always show up as our best selves. And God is okay with that—because we’re not Him. We’re human—and most importantly, we're His kids.

If Holyish stands for anything, it’s this:

Living a life that honors God isn’t about being perfect—it’s about the perfect grace He freely gives. Because whether the sun is shining or we’re caught in a downpour, God always meets us right where we are.
